Board of Health Mission

It is the mission of the Flathead City-County Health Department to assure the conditions in which people can be healthy through collaboration, education, promoting stewardship of our resources, and providing preventative health services to our community.

The Health Department obtains its direction and governance from the Flathead City-County Board of Health. The Board of Health is a nine-member board of elected and appointed members. A member of the Flathead County Board of Commissioners and a member of the Kalispell City Council serves on the board. These members represent their respective elected body and are appointed by their colleagues annually. The remaining seven members are appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve staggered, three year terms. Of these seven members, one should represent the medical community and, within reason, all seven appointees are to represent the communities of the county.
